Help! We are experiencing a continuing and worsening problem with non-biodegradable towels and wipes being flushed into the sewer system. Given the volume of towels, rag, wipes and fibrous materials, it seems they are coming from businesses more than individual households. These materials are clogging the filters at the plant and have to be removed manually. It’s not a pleasant task and it is having a negative impact on the sanitation equipment. It has become an expensive problem.
The solution requires having a separate receptacle for fibrous materials, paper towels, rags, Swiffers, wipes, diapers, etc. These items don’t break down. We’re doing everything we can to keep expenses and rates down – not flushing these items into the system will be a huge help.
Thanks for your cooperation.
