The Kent Office of Emergency Management works directly with the CT Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security on local planning and coordination, community preparedness, exercises and
training, response to emergencies, and strategic/operational all-hazards planning, in support of the state emergency preparedness framework. Kent OEM utilizes FEMA's Whole Community principles in preparedness efforts. Especially in small rural communities, this concept – which involves individuals and families, including vulnerable populations and those with access and functional needs, businesses, faith-based/not-for-profit/civic organizations, schools and media outlets, as well as all levels of government - helps build stronger, more resilient communities.
