Sustainable Materials Management Pilot Program

The Town of Kent was recently awarded a $55,000 grant from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to implement a one-year organics drop-off and unit-based pricing plot program at the Transfer Station.

We are working closely with the team at the Housatonic Resource Recovery Authority (HRRA), who will be providing resources to support the Town in developing and implementing the program.

During the pilot, we will hold a number of public information sessions for the public to hear about the waste crisis, learn about how we can all help, organic scrap composting, Save As You Throw, and ask HRRA questions. Recordings of the sessions are listed below and can also be accessed through the Town of Kent YouTube channel.

HRRA has created a dedicated page for this pilot program that will be updated regularly. Visit Kent’s NEW Food Scraps Recycling Program page for up-to-date information on the program.
